Sunday Worship
St. John's Cathedral bids you welcome. Please use the card in your pew to record your visit, request information about Cathedral ministries, or contact Clergy and staff with Prayer requests, special needs, or comments. You may place your card in the collection plate or hand it to an Usher. We also have a series of brochures you may find helpful. Look for them in each Narthex (at the back doors of the Church) and the hallway outside the Great Hall.
We use two books in addition to the service Bulletin to help direct us through the service. In the service sheet, "BCP" refers to the red book, The Book of Common Prayer. Hymns referred to with an S and a number are located in the front part of the blue book titled 'The Hymnal 1982'. All other hymns are found in the main part of the hymnal. We also use the purple bound Cathedral Songs music book occasionally. You will find lyrics to anthems inside your Sunday Bulletin. Ushers and Greeters are ready to assist you in any way.
Newcomers
We welcome you! Please let us know you are here by filling out a Visitor's card in the pew holders so that we can help you get acquainted at St. John's. Please join us for refreshments in the Great Hall.
Communion Instruction
All Baptized persons are welcome at the Altar to receive the Sacrament of the Body and Blood of our Lord. Please receive the Host in your open hands. Please assist the Chalice Bearer by guiding the Chalice to your lips. Alternately, you may dip the Host into the Chalice. To receive only a blessing, please cross your arms over your chest as you kneel or stand. If you or someone you're with is unable to make it to the altar rail for communion, please inform an usher ahead of time and a priest will bring it to you in your pew.
Hearing Assistance
Wireless personal receivers to the sound system are available for persons with hearing impairment. Please ask an Usher for assistance.
Fellowship Time
Breakfast is served at 8:30 each Sunday morning (except during summer). Coffee and cookies are served in the Great Hall following each service. When you exit the Cathedral at the 'altar end' into the Glass Foyer, go through the double doors across the courtyard and into the Great Hall. Sundays in the Summer, we share fellowship after the later service.
Parking Directions for Sundays
The main parking lot for St. John's is located behind the Cathedral on Church Ave. There is no charge on Sunday. There is also available parking in the lot across the street. Cumberland Avenue also offers some parking curbside.
Sunday Memorial Flowers
The Altar flowers as well as the altar flowers in the Chapel are given to the Glory of God and in Loving Memory.
